High Speed Dry Powder Mixing

The following video displays the high-speed mixing capabilities of INOX Blenders for dry powder mixing.

This example features a 3500L single shaft ribbon blender with 1000kg of salt + a small volume of colored salt acting as a tracer element. A homogeneous mixture is achieved in approximately 45 seconds. Impressive!!!

Furthermore, INOX blending equipment is constructed to the highest of engineering and construction standards. Including solid bar section main shaft and large, heavy spokes, high torque output drive, clean design, and easily maintained shaft seals. A new feature is the INOX split seal and pressure face adjusting seal arrangement.

Our focus and aims are to produce homogeneous mixtures of dry products in the shortest time possible. This is achieved by designing optimized equipment that can then endure the tough environment surrounding the need for high-speed mixing. Our blenders are designed to smoothly start up from zero RPM with a full product batch present, without motor stalling and without equipment breakage. Every time.

All systems are tailored to customer requirements, on an individual basis. Flexibility in design is a specialty of INOX. Our expertise has seen blenders installed into Australia, New Zealand, USA, Japan, UK, Jamaica, and Canada.

Effective batter mixing

INOX Instantisers have been long well known for their seriously effective powder-liquid mixing in the food industry in Australia and Asia.

From time to time, our R&D trials with our demo machine encounter some variations that require engineering of new impellor designs that are further suited to specific applications in the food industry.

In this case, mixing of flour + powdered ingredients + water to produce a smooth batter mix, was achieved successfully with a specially designed impellor fitted to our demo Instantiser.

Producing lump free mixing with pectins and xanthan gums.

A problem that we hear frequently is the difficulty in producing a pre mix or slurry of pectin or xanthan gum which is often added into food products as a thickener without effecting or compromising Flavours during a cooking process.

1. Pectin is a vegetable gum and food thickener that is used to make gel. In human digestion, pectin goes through the small intestine more or less intact. Pectin is thus a soluble dietary fiber. The main use for pectin is as a gelling agent, thickening agent and stabilizer in food. Pectin does not add any flavor to a dishes but it does work extremely well as a thickening agent.

2. Xanthan gum is a long chain polysaccharide composed of the sugars glucose, mannose, and glucuronic acid. The backbone is similar to cellulose, with added sidechains of trisacharides (three sugars in a chain). One of the most remarkable properties of xanthan gum is its ability to produce a large increase in the viscosity of a liquid by adding a very small quantity of gum, on the order of one percent. In most foods, it is used at 0.5%, and can be used in lower concentrations. In foods, xanthan gum is most often found in salad dressings and sauces. It helps to prevent oil separation by stabilizing the emulsion, although it is not an emulsifier. Xanthan gum also helps suspend solid particles, such as spices. Also used in frozen foods and beverages, xanthan gum helps create the pleasant texture in many ice creams, along with guar gum and locust bean gum.

Inox have proven and successfully supplied food processors with a most effective solution to this issue with our own powder/liquid mixing equipnent known as the INOX Instantiser.

2015 has seen the following Australian food processing companies purchase an INOX Instantiser for effective high speed homogenous liquid & powder mixing.

Rich glen olive farm – salad dressings, sauces

Mondelez Claremont –  liquid sugar mixing

Norco Foods – milk powder liquid mixing

Tropico Foods – xantham gum mixing

Fine Food Holdings – batter mixing

Susan Day Cakes – cake ingredient liquid / powder mixing

Tatua Dairy Co-op – dairy R&D machine

Warrnambool Cheese & Butter – lactoferrin liquid powder mixing

All clients trialled their products with our demo 200L Instantiser within their own premises or at Inox’s facilities in Melbourne.

The demo Instantiser is available to all potential customers free of charge.

Early 2016 will see a 200L INOX Instantiser available for customers in Malaysia and Thailand.

With the standard, successful Instantiser impeller design commonly used in most food applications, most food processors will find that the mixing produces a high level of shear applied and reduction in particle size, producing a more favorable end product that can show improvement on the texture, taste and appearance, as well as eliminating lumps and agglomerates that can cause problems in further cooking processing machinery.

For difficult and special applications, INOX have available a further 4 x impeller options available for testing the suitability of the machine.

Due to the flexible design ability of INOX to customize the equipment to suit any customers special requirements, a solution  is always an exciting challenge for our company, and a passion to succeed and improve on your process times and quality of your product is the driving factor for INOX.

What makes the INOX Instantiser produce such effective mixing turbulence?

A major component, other than the special impeller, is the sanitary, square shape of the mixing vessel that eliminates the need for difficult to clean internal baffles, while still creating a vortex within the product to the high speed mixing impeller and hygienic impeller sump outlet design.

During the mixing and vortex creation, the product outside of the vortex areas still receive a mixing effect in all directions. Product does not simply ‘spin’, but is effectively mixed with such turbulent intensity, that a homogeneous mix is achieved.

With more viscous products, approx. 20,000 CPC, a ‘folding’ action is achieved in each of the 4 corner areas of the vessel.

MIXING with the new 2015 INOX INSTANTISER

NEW Inox Side Drive Instantiser
NEW Inox Side Drive Instantiser

INOX are excited to release our latest version of the already highly regarded high speed mixing system, the INOX INSTANTISER. Loading has never been easier and safer due to the reduced height of the machine.

While we have kept the heart of the INSTANTISER unchanged. Many other features have been included and introduced into a truly re-designed world class piece of equipment for the food processing industry.

Why change it, if it is already so successful? We have the exact same impellor shaft, mechanical seal and stationary seat design since we first started manufacturing the INSTANTISER ™  in 1998. This ensures spare parts from INOX is an easy and quick turn-around, since we keep several of these items in stock.

INSTANTISER is for high speed, high shear mixing. It has become a food industry household name. Many installations in Australia and Asia.

So how have we made this better? We have incorporated many design features that are important to any food processing facility.

The lower sump area is a dishing that has such a small (and wide open) short leg to the outlet valve. This minimises the amount of ‘dead-leg’ product in the outlet tube. The length is as short as we have ever seen it.IMG_1856

This is just the beginning. A major overhaul of the overall look of the machine include clean lines that flow, nicely gapped areas that are easy to clean and many other smart features that together make a machine a success in its design and function ability.
